Tom Feeney's Statement on Suspicious Letters
Letters now found in Port Orange, Orlando and Titusville Offices

(Washington, D.C.) - Tom Feeney yesterday learned of a suspicious letter at his Port Orange office as he arrived in Washington for the energy debate. Two Feeney staffers in Port Orange opened a letter that contained white powder and immediately called the Port Orange Police Department and the U.S. Capitol Police. Port Orange City Hall was evacuated and two Feeney staffers were placed in quarantine and then were released shortly after to return home to their families.

This morning, the Orlando office received a similar letter. Staffers did not open the letter and contacted authorities. The building at Research Park was evacuated, but has now returned to normal activity. Just this afternoon, a matching letter was also located at our Titusville office. Tom Feeney released the following statement:

"I want to thank local authorities, the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the US Postal Inspector for their quick response to this situation. Our office takes every threat seriously and my primary concern is for the safety of my staff, the other employees in the shared office space and citizens visiting these buildings.

"We are cooperating with the proper authorities. My thoughts and prayers are with my staffers and the other employees and citizens in the buildings impacted by this incident,"
said Feeney.
