Tom Feeney Urges Colleagues and the President to Stand up for Hardworking Taxpayers and Responsible Homeowners and Reject the $300 Billion Taxpayer Bailout

(Washington, D.C.) - Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) today released the following statement regarding the massive bailout bill that the House will vote on shortly:

"This irresponsible bailout forces taxpayers to guarantee over $300 billion in new home loans for speculators and scam artists. To add insult to taxpayer injury, the bill also includes an unprecedented bailout for the trillion dollar mortgage giants, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

"I came to Washington to defend hardworking taxpayers, not speculators and scam artists. I urge my colleagues to reject this bad bailout and stand up for the responsible homeowners in their districts. If my colleagues pass this bill that raises the federal debt limit to $800 billion, I urge the President reconsider his decision not to veto this bill that is filled with liberal spending favors for ACORN and La Raza to use taxpayer dollars to subsidize their left-wing agenda nationwide," said Feeney.
