Rose Bay Funds Finally Released
Giant Leap to Complete a 15 Year Project
(Oviedo, FL) - U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) today celebrated the Army Corps of Engineers' release of funding for Rose Bay. Rep. Tom Feeney has made the restoration of Rose Bay a top priority of his office. Over the past nine years, much progress has been made in Rose Bay despite occasional setbacks. Today, Rep. Feeney learned that the Army Corps of Engineers will fund the Rose Bay project with the $2.5 million that was allotted in Congress. The funds will allow the construction of the dredge material disposal site and the dredging of Rose Bay. This will complete this critical 15 year project.
"During the past five years, the restoration of Rose Bay has been one of my top priorities. I have continued to press the Army Corps of Engineers to move forward with their responsibilities under the Rose Bay restoration plan -- the dredging of accumulated sediments and removal of an old causeway.
"Today's release of funds is a giant step towards the completion of this 15 year project and I will continue to work diligently to bring this project to its conclusion. I look forward to the time when we fully restore Rose Bay as a healthy and productive aquatic ecosystem," said Feeney.
Rep. Tom Feeney requested a $2.53 million appropriation in the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill to fund the required dredging. This year's House version of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill fully funds the request.
