FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 27, 2007
(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo), member of the House Judiciary Committee and Immigration Reform Caucus, today released the following statement in response to the House Republican Conference’s adoption of a resolution officially opposing the Senate's immigration amnesty sellout.
"Like a bad penny, the disastrous immigration bill has turned up again in the Senate. In response, I joined House Republicans to overwhelmingly support a Republican Conference resolution that makes it loud and clear to our constituents that we will not support an immigration amnesty sellout that is an insult to hardworking American taxpayers and a danger to homeland security.
"The Senate needs to wake up and realize that the American people want them to bury this irresponsible legislation," said Feeney. As Orlando business leader George Daniels pointed out, "We're giving people cuts in front of everyone else who's waiting to immigrate legally."
"We must enforce our current laws, gain control of our borders, and prove to American citizens that their government is serious about protecting their family's security. Existing laws, if we ever decide to enforce them, are infinitely superior to this Senate border surrender,"said Feeney.
