(Washington, DC) - U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) today celebrated the news of tomorrow's expected finalization of an agreement between Tavistock and the VA for the Orlando VA Hospital site at Lake Nona:
"Finally, the largest metropolitan area not serviced by a VA medical center will now have a facility at Lake Nona. Tomorrow's expected finalization of an agreement is a victory for veterans and our community as Central Florida's growing veterans population will finally have appropriate access to healthcare services. I want to thank all of the Central Florida veterans who have worked energetically to bring this hospital to fruition.
"The Lake Nona site is destined to make Orlando a world-class medical center of the future. The VA hospital, Burnham Institute, and UCF Medical School create a stunning trifecta that will be valuable to everyone involved in this spectacular research environment.
"We are so close to the final step and I will urge the White House and Congress in the fiscal 2008 budget to fully fund procurement of the site," said Feeney.
